How to Use a Phone as a Spirit Level

Set up your phone

1. Open PhoneLeveler and tap Start level.
2. Allow motion access if your browser asks; the reading is processed on-device.
3. Choose the task that matches the job: flat surface, upright edge, or angle.
4. Rest a consistent phone edge against the object and wait for Stable before adjusting.

Place it carefully

Use the same contact edge for every check. Remove a thick case if it rocks, and avoid resting the phone on a protruding camera bump. A clean, flat contact point matters more than a precise-looking number.

Calibrate and check twice

Calibrate if the reading seems off or you need a temporary reference. Calibration makes the current reference your zero; it does not turn an uneven contact point into a perfect measuring surface. For a final check, reposition the phone and compare the result.

Know the limit

A phone level is useful for pictures, shelves, furniture, and similar everyday work. Use a suitable physical level and follow manufacturer instructions for structural, electrical, heavy-appliance, or safety-critical work.
